I have received half a dozen of these in the last week. The emails are unsolicited offers to “renew” your domain with the phrase” Final notice” in the subject to get people to open it. The top looks like this:

Then we have the “Scare Line”

And Finally, the false savings:

$75 for one year? This company and most of our clients are registered with GoDaddy, which has their own methods of boosting sales, but charges a fair price of around $12 per year for domain registration. Savings will not be found in this offer or ones like it!

Other info about this spam domain renewal email

The messages come from “codero.com” and also mentions “sesubmission.com“. It’s a shady tactic but perfectly legal. As they say in the fine print at the bottom:

Note that THIS IS NOT A BILL. This is a solicitation. You are under no obligation to pay the amounts stated unless you accept this offer. … There is no pre-existing relationship between DS and the domain mentioned above. This notice is not in any part associated with a continuation of services for domain registration.

Need great advice on an on-call basis? You need 3PRIME in your corner! We offer fair billing and never misrepresent what we do. Check out our testimonials and contact us today!

Constant Contact acts as a list manager for 3 major purposes:

Sending email to recipients

Conducting surveys

Marketing events managed via email

They charge based on the number of unique email addresses they store for you, and you can send unlimited emails to those users. They handle unsubscribes and provide code to enable you to encourage website visitors to signup through your website.

For list management, you can add recipients manually or by uploading organized lists of email address with or without other contact info using a spreadsheet (CSV).

They’re support is pretty strong, if occasionally heavy handed. To maintain their high degree of successfully inboxing your emails, they will suspend accounts that have high numbers of spam reports (if a recipient marks your message as spam) as this affects the reputation of their email servers.

For email marketing, they provide a number of email and newsletter templates that can be managed pretty easily. Usually when we send a new email, we’ll copy the previous one, modify the text or HTML and then send. Sometimes it is to a new list, i.e. followup for new customers only, or it might be sent to all lists and all recipients. Some customers highly segment their lists, others just have a few major groupings.

We generally administer the accounts but clients can certainly use it themselves. The dashboard is entirely web based and their phone support is available during business hours.

They offer a free trial for 60 days, after which their pricing is as follows (as of 9/17/11)

Constant Contact Pricing Matrix

Email addresses Monthly
0-500 $15
501-2,500 $30
2,501-5,000 $50
5,001-10,000 $75
10,001-25,000 $150
25,000+ Call for pricing

Our Story
We started in the website design and marketing industry in 2003, just as Google came on the scene. We built sites that were geared to succeed in Google and other search engines, and that became our paradigm of approach to consulting, designing and building websites.

Now, there is a new shift, towards mobile devices and we aim to bring our experience to bear on this shift.

Our mission is to bring to market a durable and flexible tool for businesses to use to cater to this soon to dominate sector of their audience. Instead of focusing on getting people there, MobileSpringer is geared to ensure that a certain type of visitor is specifically catered to.

Are mobile users taking a more active role in making a decision right now? Are they special or different? We don’t know but we think businesses are thinking this and they need a way to address and manage these needs.

MobileSpringer Beta
The technology is ready for an initial level of use but will need further development.

To focus our development, we will take the input from our beta users before we set them up, after they are setup with MobileSpringer Beta and throughout their use of the beta, even as we create added functionality and build the active beta.

If you would like to participate, please visit MobileSpringer.com

Google +1 integration is pretty straightforward, although these can often be complicated by the fact that most businesses don’t directly manage their own web content or rely on a trusted, efficient vendor to update their website in a timely fashion.

I am writing this in response to a fellow member if the linkedin group Connecticut Small Business Networking. Maria, a local realtor, asked for a step-by-step, so here it is!

How to add Google +1 button to your Website
1) You’ll need access to update your website content. If you don’t know how to do this, we can help you figure it out and store this information for you for future reference.

2) Go to Google to get the appropriate code.
Google Plus One code consists of 2 pieces, a piece that goes after any instances of the actual button which you can add in your footer (like google analytics), and a piece to display the button. We’ll call these the code segments for the footer and display.
Tip: Use the “Advanced options” to turn off the count to make the displayed button smaller and more easily integrated.

3) Paste the footer portion of the code first. Maria, if you are only adding this on your homepage, put the footer piece below all the rest of the content on the page.

4) Paste the display code where you want the plusone button displayed.

5) Save your changes, upload to server via FTP, whatever is appropriate for your website management technique.

Once this is done, the Plus One button will load correctly, really a very simple integration. The hardest part for most people is knowing how to manage their website, and if that’s an issue for you, you should meet us!

Other common questions and answers
What does asynchronous mean in terms of +1? click here

Should I use a common website URL or page specific? The answer to this depends on your website and your content habits. Give us a call and we’ll be glad to discuss it with you!

3PRIME makes website updates daily to dozens of websites each week. These are related to SEO programs, requested website updates, e-commerce management and banner and graphical updates for very active websites. Wether you need occasional or weekly updates, 3PRIME is your partner in website management.

Call 203.789.8229 to discuss your website update needs.

The short answer is yes FB has implications on rankings. The big question is how you use it.

1) Improve the placement of your FB page
2) Trying to use FB to improve the placement of your website.

If your goal is #1, then there are various traditional SEO activities you can do. You then need to concern yourself with what people can do once they get there.

If you are only worried about #2, then the only thing to do is to get the FB pages ranked more highly, so that the few links to your website are worth more.

In either case you’re going to be building the prominence of the FB page, but why you are doing it is the most critical question to answer. This will determine your course of action.
